Key Strategic Priorities
Support innovators and entrepreneurs to transform innovative ideas into impactful solutions.
IIH aims to transform innovative ideas into impactful marketplace products and services, particularly focusing on health and livelihoods. This area prioritises increasing the number and success of high-impact startups through the Entrepreneur in Residence program, advisory services, and enhanced access to funding. It addresses both early-stage ideation and proof of concept, as well as product development and commercialisation, to ensure innovations effectively reach the market and improve lives in the region.
Strengthen IIH’s institutional capacity and sustainability.
This strategic area focuses on making IIH an independent and financially stable entity. Key actions include spinning off IIH from IHI, developing robust governance and management structures, and creating sustainable funding models. The aim is to ensure IIH can generate its own funds, support program growth, and invest in startups; ensuring long-term operational success
Strengthen the innovation ecosystem to ensure innovation and social entrepreneurship flourish.
IIH is committed to enhancing the innovation ecosystem in Tanzania by mobilizing actors, assets, and relationships to create a supportive environment for innovation and social entrepreneurship. This includes ecosystem research, policy advocacy, human capital development, and community engagement. The goal is to foster a shared sense of purpose and drive mission-driven approaches to address social challenges through innovation and entrepreneurship.
