Making nutritious food accessible to all.
The Problem
The FAO reports that more than 3.1 billion people could not afford a healthy diet in 2021. This problem is particularly evident in rural communities, where improper dietary habits prevail due to factors such as limited access to diverse food sources, economic constraints, and lack of nutrition education. These issues contribute to a high prevalence of malnutrition, underscoring the urgent need for affordable and sustainable dietary solutions to improve health outcomes in these areas..
Our Solution
Mama’s Uyoga is a women's collective providing a dietary solution for people of all ages by cultivating oyster mushrooms, known for their nutritional and medicinal properties. They innovate by using locally available raw materials, such as agricultural waste, to grow these nutritious fungi.
